Weekend Event Guide (Feb. 7-9)

A chocolate festival, a Valentine's event for the fam + More

By Jenna Amyot February 5, 2025

We made it to February, friends. And, with that, my event calendar is filling up. There are some really fun, family-friendly events to choose from, but I've highlighted my top picks below. If your family isn't down for the count with the flu, I hope to catch you at one of these.

Friday: Family Fun Night with Knucklebones (Medford)

This bitterly cold weather has us all feeling the effects of cabin fever and I'm so grateful for the Medford Family Network and these Friday Fun Nights. They happen once/month during the winter and are perfect for getting your kids to socialize with others and play with toys they don't ordinarily play with.

Saturday: 2nd Annual Winter Wonderland Festival (Revere)

When I was a kid, I went to a Winter Wonderland event in Boston Common and it was one of the best/most fun events that I can remember - and then it got canceled because it cost the city a small fortune. Suffice to say, I've been looking for a similar event for 30+ years and the city of Revere is bringing it.

Saturday + Sunday: Kids Movies at Lord Hobo (Woburn)

Movies in restaurants and breweries hit differently if the establishment is providing the movie. Those are the rules. You will not lose any parenting points for letting your kids have screen time while you enjoy a libation and some food. In fact, I highly encourage it. On Saturday, Lord Hobo will be playing Coco, on Sunday, Pokemon. And, if you're wondering, YES Lord Hobo also has wine available. :)

Saturday: Valentine's Family Fest (Medford)

Honestly, the Medford Family Network has bailed me out on so many occasions when I've had kids crawling up the walls needing stuff to do. The Valentine's Family Fest is a fun fundraiser for MFN - so if you're able to support an amazing organization and aiming to have a fun afternoon with your families, I highly recommend this event. There will be magic shows, face painting, crafts, pizza and more. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. They're encouraging advance tickets to help with lines, so if you know for sure you're going, definitely help the organizers out by getting your tickets online in advance.

Saturday: Annual Chocolate Festival (Wilmington)

Honestly, I feel like it's a disservice to describe this event because the name alone makes me want to go and wear my "Thanksgiving pants" (IYKYK), but this event will have all the chocolate - candy, whoopie pies, desserts and more. So, if you're trying to satisfy a sweet tooth, I can't think of a better way to try.

Saturday: Live Ice Sculpting (Burlington)

If you follow me on IG, you know 3rd Ave is a favorite spot of mine in the summer because our kids can run around on the green while we try to squeeze in a meal. They are definitely tired of being cooped up because of frigid temps, but I think they'll love this one - live ice sculpting and giveaways from some of their favorite restaurants. Honestly, there are so many great events for Saturday, we may have to divide and conquer as a fam.

Sunday: Ichigo Sweets Pop up at Colleens (Medford)

Honestly, they had me at tiramisu for this one. Colleen's is hosting a bunch of cool pop-ups throughout the winter, so if trying a new spin on tiramisu or a white chocolate tart sounds like a fun way to get ready for the Super Bowl, this event is for you. And, if you're headed there, consider getting some goodies for a big game party and support local business.
