Hello, February! Is it me, or was that the longest January on record? Hopefully you and your families survived that awful, flu- and other virus-ridden month and that means you're in the clear for the rest of winter (if only...). If you're like me and ready to emerge from a month of sickness, then I've got you covered with this weekend's top, family-friendly events!
Abundant Life in Wilmington always plans fun events for families and this event is exactly what we need right now. While hosting an open house for their preschool and kindergartens, they're offering crafts, games, snacks and bounce houses for FREE. So, if you're shopping schools for your kids, you can cross a couple of big to-dos off your list at this one.
Live Productions: Oliver! and Disney's The Descendants
If you're wanting to expose your kiddos to live performances by other kids, then there are two options for this weekend- Oliver! and Disney's The Descendants. Both are ticketed events and help support live event production at our local schools - and who knows, they may foster a love of performing (or seeing performance art!).
Matt Heaton is to my children what Zac Brown Band is to me. And that is the ultimate live performance (ZBB at Fenway... IYKYK). About once a month, Matt takes his musical talents to the Burren in Somerville for brunch. They basically encourage kids to dance and have fun, all while you sip a mimosa (or maybe enjoy a cup of uninterrupted coffee).
The Medford Rec center is hosting free, open gym on Sundays through March 23, BUT it's for kids ages 5+, which unfortunately doesn't work for us, but if you're kids fall within that range, it's definitely worth checking out, especially because the first 45 minutes are sensory-friendly!
Summer Camp & Kids Activities Fair
Honorable mention to fellow Macaroni KID publisher Barbara for pulling together this annual event showcase summer camp options in the Lowell - Lexington areas!
