There's snow in the forecast (albeit, not much!), but it has me thinking it's time to make a guide on local sledding hot (er, cold) spots. Many thanks to all moms in local Facebook groups who helped compile this list. I am decidedly NOT a winter person and I have a history of breaking bones when it's icy outside, but if you've got a little one who's dying to get out there, then this list is for you!
Arlington: Robbins Park (aka Skyline Park)
This is a local favorite because the hill isn't too big (or too small) and has a great flat (and clear of obstacles) space to slow down before going back up the hill.
Burlington: Simonds Park
Another great spot with a moderate hill and a clear landing space! And, as you can see in the picture, there's a convenient parking lot at the top.
Medford: Tufts University (specifically, the President's Lawn).
This honestly looks super fun, but because of the trees, I'm probably not taking my kids (who are too young to navigate around/stop in an emergency), so if you're kids are older/experienced sledders, go for it!
Wilmington: Town Common
Admittedly, I can't find a single sledding photo of the Wilmington Town Common, but in all of my research all signs point to this being the place to sled in Wilmington. I love a challenge, so next time there's enough snow to sled, that's where I'll be (with photos to prove it!).
Winchester: Mullen Field
Another one without a single photo, which is shocking, but be warned: this is a STEEP hill. Not ideal for toddlers, but perfect if you've got older kids who love a thrill!
Woburn: Joyce Middle School
