Want to Clear Out the Halloween Candy?

Here's Where You Can Donate it!

By Jenna Amyot November 1, 2024

I used to think my coworkers with kids were such buzzkills when they'd bring in their kids' Halloween candy into the office on Nov. 1. Fast forward to 2024 and I've compiled a whole freaking list where you can donate your unopened candy (and in one case even recycle your wrappers because I'll forever feel guilty for the amount of disposable diapers we've gone through). In any event, here are local businesses accepting unopened Halloween candy!

Arlington: Arlington Orthodontics is buying your Halloween candy back for $2/lb ($10 max!) and will donate it to troops overseas. They're also making a match to your local school's PTO (Arlington schools only). "Sell" your candy back on Friday, Nov. 8, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 9, 8 a.m-1 p.m.

Burlington: Piedmont Office Realty Trust will be collecting candy in its main lobby located at 25 Mall Road, Burlington MA through Friday, Nov 8. Donations will be sent to Soldiers Angels.

Medford: The Charlotte & William Bloomberg Medford Public Library will be accepting unopened Halloween candy until Nov. 7, which will then be used for holiday gingerbread houses.

Trove Green Provisions is offering to recycle plastic candy wrappers with a small $2 donation to cover costs. They will be collecting wrappers starting this week, until December 1st. Recycling these wrappers is crucial since they often escape into waterways and the environment, lasting far longer than the sweets themselves

Wilmington: We're One Wilmington will be creating gift bags of Halloween candy for seniors and veterans. If you'd like to donate, you can drop off candy at 9 Leslie Rd on the front covered porch or 41 Apache way. Donations will be accepted Nov. 1-10.
