Top Spots to See the Best Fall Colors in Arlington, Medford, Winchester, Woburn, Burlington and Wilmington

Arlington: Spy Pond

Tree-lined Spy Pond is near Arlington's town center and has a great park that includes a walkable path, a playground and picnic benches.

Fun fact: Spy Pond was actually formed by a giant block of ice that broke away from glacier.

Medford: Mystic Lakes + Tufts University’s Academic Quad

The Mystic Lakes are always gorgeous - even in the dead of winter but they really show off during fall. On some days, you'll be surrounded by fall foliage, a glittering sunset and sailboats. Honestly, it's a picture-perfect spot (and there's a playground nearby if your kids grow bored of the scenery!).

Tufts University has a really beautiful campus that includes classic colonial architecture and tons of trees. Between the architecture, lamposts and fall foliage, you'll be sure to get your fill of fall here. Oh, and if you're visiting and are looking for a snack, I highly recommend stopping by the Danish Pastry House (they have homemade pop tarts).

Winchester: Winchester Public Library

You could argue that the Mystic Lakes cover both Medford and Winchester - and you'd be right! But, in the interest of pointing out some of our towns' small charm, I'm recommending a visit to the Winchester Public Library to enjoy the fall foliage. With hills, trees and benches overlooking the dam and "waterfall" in town, this charming spot is a great place to enjoy the fall scenery.

Woburn: Horn Pond

This is an obvious one, but Horn Pond is another local beauty that will be pretty perfect when the leaves start turning. It's one of my favorite spots to walk.

Burlington: Mill Pond

Did you know Burlington has a 140-acre property that includes a reservoir, hiking trails and wetlands? Well, fall is a perfect reason to check it out for yourself! You can enjoy the fall foliage and explore some new paths. If you go, park at the Water Treatment Plant on Winter Street or at the access point off of Town Line Road.

Wilmington: Silver Lake

Silver Lake, which is popular destination in summer, is a great spot to enjoy fall foliage. BUT, ff you visit Silver Lake in fall, remember that the beach portion is closed (e.g., no lifeguards are on duty, the bath house is closed).
