Navigating High Cost of Living and Childcare in Massachusetts

Why is it so expensive to live here?

By Jenna Amyot August 29, 2024

Massachusetts was recently ranked the second most expensive state to live in (behind Hawaii). Earlier this year, it was also ranked among the most expensive for childcare. Not a single person here is shocked by that information. But, you can imagine my shock when I learned about Communities United.

Communities United is a remarkable organization dedicated to supporting early childhood education, starting as young as four months and as old as age five. And, thanks to funding from Head Start, families can apply for admission and enjoy subsidized childcare, allowing parents to stay in the workforce and give their children access to early education, which has endless benefits, from emotional and academic learning to stronger family bonds and upward mobility

If you or someone you know is in need of help with childcare – visit Communities United and apply for admission today. There are locations in Lexington, Waltham, Woburn and Newton-Watertown. And, parents can choose from a variety of scheduling options, offering the flexibility so many of us need.
