As much as I’d like to be a mom that plans ahead – registers her kids early for sports, buys and wraps holiday gifts months in advance, plans their birthday parties with more than a few weeks’ notice… I’m just not. So, if you’re like me and you haven’t figured out what your kids will be doing for summer (and are worried that there are no spots left in summer camps), I have good news. Cool Science Club in Winchester has spots available and it’s definitely one of the most unique, dare I say “coolest” summer activities out there?
Why? For one, the premise of Cool Science Club is crime scene investigation! This year, Cool Science Club will need curious young scientists to put their detective hats on and use forensic science as they gather evidence to help solve the Mystery of the Missing Ted Williams Photo.
While trying to solve this who-dun-it, children will put their observational and critical thinking skills to the test while learning new, fun things like photography skills, the history of Winchester's museum, the importance of water wheels, how the museum’s water wheel works, and even how to make one. They’ll also learn about Ted Williams and his interesting baseball career and read Matt Tavares’s book, “There Goes Ted Williams.”
If it sounds awesome, that’s because it is.
