Playground Spotlight: Wildwood Park (Burlington)

This awesome spot has a lot to explore

By Jenna Amyot November 10, 2022

We're always on the hunt for a new playground - and googling only gets us so far. Case in point: Wildwood Park in Burlington (which yields nearly 5-star google reviews if you search very specifically for Wildwood playground park v. Wildwood park or Wildwood playground).

This place is so fun to visit. In additional to basketball hoops, a huge soccer field, a walking path and an outdoor exercise area, it has a moderate sized playground with climbing for all ages.  If you have a little one, the big slide area has an easy-access staircase and there are two awesome slides when you get to the top, including one that's bumpy the whole way down, which was a pleasant surprise for our two-year-old. The playground is surrounded by wood chips (not stroller friendly), though if you have a toddler, you know that wood chips are the currency of the playground - perfect for the little general store area.

Surprisingly, the playground wasn't even our favorite part of this visit. In Google reviews, I noticed pictures of really elaborate birdhouses. So, we went looking for those and found about a dozen of them off the walking path. I snapped a couple of pics before the sun went down, and thanks to all the fallen leaves, I'm not TOTALLY sure if these are on public or private property, but we loved checking these out. Each one is so unique that we left trying to find more info about them and came up empty (I'm asking around, but if you know anything, please email me!).

This spot will be a regular hangout for us. I love that everything is contained in one area and that you can have a different experience every time. Would definitely recommend checking it out if you're on the hunt for a new park and playground!
