Joy Skate Productions Hosts First FREE Joy Skate Party for Veterans & Military Families on Feb. 4th at Boston’s Frog Pond

Event will include skating lessons, games, warm treats and more!

BOSTON (Jan. 14, 2019) – Joy Skate Productions, a company that promotes health & happiness through the joy of ice skating, will host their first Joy Skate Party to honor veterans and military families on Monday, Feb. 4 from 7:30-9:00 pm. The FREE event, sponsored in part by The Skating Club of Boston, will be an opportunity for this deserving community to skate on Boston’s iconic Frog Pond and receive lessons from professional figure skaters and coaches.

The event is open to any military veteran, current commissioned military personnel and their families from across New England. Joy Skate Productions staff, The Skating Club of Boston coaches and volunteers will be on hand to help people skate and teach simple tricks on the ice. In addition, there will be fun games, music and warm treats plus other off-ice activities for the attendees.

“We wanted to say thank you to our local veterans and military families, and thought why not invite them to do something we all love?” said Elin Schran, figure skaterchoreographer, producer and Founder of Joy Skate Productions. “Our goal is to identify a community in need each year, and to host an event that can benefit them and spread our joy of skating. The military community makes so many sacrifices to serve our country, we wanted to give something back to them that could bring happiness into their lives.”

“When Elin approached me with this idea, I immediately knew we’d do everything we could to support it,” said Doug Zeghibe, Executive Director, The Skating Club of Boston, which operates the Boston Common Frog Pond. “Elin’s enthusiasm is genuine and infectious, and when she’s passionate about something, there’s no stopping her. This event is a great example of that. She wanted to provide a fun experience to our local military community and has worked hard to organize an event that will make that happen.”

The Skating Club of Boston will provide free admission, skate rentals and hot chocolate to registered participants. Space is limited and the event will be on a first come, first serve basis for those that register to attend.
